Character Chronicle
Christa
The Stone Sentinel
Guardian, rescuer, adviser, horsekeeper, and the steady light that taught Athera how to welcome newcomers safely.
Arrival in the Storm
Christa reached Athera through rain with two injured travelers secured to a dappled mare. She asked for dry blankets and a healer before she offered her name. By dawn, she had already drawn a safer route across the eastern cliffs.
She did not swear loyalty upon arrival. She inspected the roads, the stores, and the promises people depended upon. Her loyalty grew from seeing that Athera was willing to repair its weaknesses rather than hide them.
The Stone Shores
Christa and Squatch lifted the eastern road above the tide, replaced unsafe crossings, and placed shelters within reach of every marked path. Her stable became a tack shop, her signal post became a tower, and the tower became the Stone Beach Fortress.
The fortress was never merely a wall. It held food, maps, dry clothing, spare tack, and enough weapons to protect travelers who arrived with nothing.
Voice of the Council
When Athera’s promises became too numerous to survive only in Beetus’s memory, Christa pressed the founders to record the reasons behind their decisions. She became the council voice who asked who would be left outside each new rule.
The title Stone Sentinel began among the bridge workers. Christa accepted it because it described a duty, not a reward.
“The road did not arrive yesterday. That appears to be the problem.”
