Character Chronicle
Beetus
The Weight of the Crown
The first founder, the practical leader of Athera, and the man who accepted a crown as a burden rather than a prize.
Before the Crown
Before there was Athera Prime, there was an unnamed valley, a weak fire, and one man with no road behind him. Beetus survived the first nights by measuring every problem as work: shelter before comfort, food before ceremony, and walls before promises.
Tyto followed the smoke from the east. Squatch arrived from the northern timber. The three became founders without declaring themselves anything at all. They became founders because the work continued after exhaustion should have stopped it.
Five Hundred Days
For nearly five hundred days, the First Three cut roads, recovered failed harvests, opened mines, raised defenses, and built enough room for people who had not yet arrived. Beetus entered the Belfast Mines when the settlement needed diamond and returned weeks later with tools that changed the future of every project above him.
He did not build Athera to become powerful. He built because someone had to prepare the fire, the food, and the safe road before the next lost traveler appeared.
The People’s Burden
As more travelers arrived, arguments over iron, food, roads, and shelter began finding their way to Beetus. He rejected the title of king until the people made clear that they were not offering ownership. They were naming the person expected to carry the final burden when every answer had a cost.
His rule was measured in public stores that survived winter, roads that brought travelers home, and tools returned to working hands. The crown became a promise that the realm would not belong only to whoever stood strongest beside the vault.
The Fall and Return
Athera later endured the Fall. Beetus sealed the realm rather than allow what remained to be consumed. The full causes and every choice surrounding that night remain protected history; they are not to be filled with convenient invention.
Athera was sealed, not erased. Beetus returned, the roads reopened, and the realm entered the Age of Oretherium carrying both its old scars and the responsibility to build again.
“A king is only as powerful as the wealth he grants his people.”
